Each year, thousands of dollars in Chamber gift certificates are purchased through Chamber of Commerce and then used at various retail Chamber members.
The Miami County Chamber of Commerce makes program participation available to all retail Chamber members.
The Chamber designs and issues the certificates with a list of participating retail Chamber member businesses on the back of the certificate. A statement appears on the front noting that the participating merchants are listed on the reverse side of the certificate.
A certificate number is placed on the certificate as well as the Chamber seal. On the face of the certificate also appears the dollar amount of the certificate, date, bearer’s name and expiration date.
When a certificate is used by the consumer, the merchant will accept them as cash. The certificate can only be used in one store and must be for the full amount. This eliminates the process of issuing cash, credit slips and gift certificates for the unused portion. The merchant then redeems the certificate at the Chamber office. The Chamber retains 5% of the face value of the certificate to cover administrative costs.
The primary goal of the certificate program is to encourage shopping in Peru and support for local businesses. It is imperative that all employees are informed of your participation so they understand the procedure and are prepared to accept the certificates.
